On October 2, 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DAJGUA) in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, coinciding with the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. This ambitious scheme has a total outlay of ₹79,156 crores, with the Central Government contributing ₹56,333 crores and the State Government contributing ₹22,823 crores.

  • Objective: The scheme aims to assist borrowers in settling dues from loans classified as Non-Performing Assets (NPAs) as of March 31, 2021, and continuing through August 31, 2024, avoiding legal complications.

    • The balance is payable within 90 days of the Letter of Approval (LOA) without interest or by March 25, 2025, with interest based on 1-year MCLR (as of August 31, 2024) + 2% simple interest.
    • All payments must be completed by March 25, 2025.
  • Ineligibility: Borrowers under vendor bill discounting, vendor finance, corporate guarantees, or cases under the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC) are ineligible for the scheme.
