The India Meteorological Department predicts continued heavy rainfall in specific districts till the next morning.

“Government Introduces Face Recognition & Aadhaar-based eKYC for Farmers to Ensure Transparency in PM-Kisan Scheme.”

The government has implemented Face Recognition and Aadhaar identification-based eKYC for farmers to enhance transparency in the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme.

In response to questions in the Lok Sabha, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister of State, Shobha Karandlaje, highlighted the existence of fake entries aiming to receive benefits under the PM-Kisan scheme.

The newly introduced eKYC aims to ensure good governance and transparency in direct benefit transfers to farmers, particularly after the release of the 13th PM-Kisan fund.

Minister Karandlaje emphasized the simplicity of the eKYC process, noting that it can be easily completed through a mobile app.

The Government of India has disbursed over 2.60 lakh crore rupees to more than 11 crore farmers under the PM-KISAN scheme.

Under the PM-KISAN scheme, an annual amount of six thousand rupees is transferred in three equal installments of two thousand rupees directly into the bank accounts of eligible farmers.

Launched in February 2019, the PM-KISAN Scheme aims to provide financial assistance to all cultivable landholding farmer families across the country.

“PM Kisan” refers to the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme, which is a government initiative in India aimed at providing financial support to small and marginal farmers. The scheme was launched by the Government of India in December 2018. Under the PM-Kisan scheme, eligible farmers receive direct income support of Rs 6,000 per year in three equal installments of Rs 2,000 each. This support is provided to help farmers meet their financial needs for various agricultural activities, including the purchase of seeds, fertilizers, and other inputs.

“Over 6 Lakh Villages Have Mobile Connectivity in India, Fastest 5G Rollout: Communications Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.”

Out of 6,44,131 villages in India, approximately 6,16,300 villages have mobile connectivity, according to Communications and Electronics Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.

The government has undertaken various initiatives to improve internet connectivity across the country.

India has witnessed the fastest rollout of 5G services globally, with 3.99 lakh Base Trans-receivers Station (BTS) deployed across approximately 738 districts.

The number of BTS has increased from 6.49 lakhs in March 2014 to 24.42 lakhs in March of the current year.

Internet users in India have increased from 25.15 crore in March 2014 to 88.22 crore in March 2023.

The cost of data has significantly reduced, from Rs 269 per GB in March 2014 to Rs 9.94 per GB in March of the current year.

“Government Committed to Promoting Alternative Fuel and Biofuel,” Says Union Road and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari.

“India Installs 186 GW of Non-Fossil Fuel Energy Capacity, says Government.”

The Indian government has reported that the country has installed over 186 GW of energy capacity from non-fossil fuel-based energy resources as of October this year.

This includes approximately 179 GW from renewable energy sources and over 7 GW from nuclear power.

Additionally, 114 GW of capacity is currently under implementation, and more than 55 GW of capacity is under the tendering process.

The figures highlight India’s significant progress in diversifying its energy mix towards cleaner and sustainable sources.

“The 1st Asian Ranger Forum in Guwahati Focuses on Biodiversity Conservation.”

The 1st Asian Ranger Forum has commenced in Guwahati, aiming to provide a platform for rangers and organizations from the Asian region to collaborate on global issues affecting rangers and find solutions.

Chandra Mohan Patowary, Minister for Environment & Forest, Act East Policy Affairs, Govt. of Assam, and Sudhir Mungantiwar, Minister of Forest, Govt. of Maharashtra, attended the inaugural program as Chief Guest and Guest of Honour, respectively.

Mr. Mungantiwar emphasized that rangers are the true guardians of Asia’s natural heritage and play a crucial role in achieving the 30×30 target of the Global Biodiversity Framework.

Minister Patowary highlighted Assam Government’s efforts in using technology like drones and GPS for wildlife protection, habitat management, and environmental conservation.

“ISRO Successfully Moves Chandrayaan Orbiter from Moon to Earth, Eyes Earth Observation Mission.”

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has successfully maneuvered the Chandrayaan orbiter, also known as the Propulsion Module, from the Moon to Earth.

The Chandrayaan orbiter, with over 100 kgs of fuel, had spent over one month operating in lunar orbit. ISRO decided to utilize the remaining fuel to gather additional information for future lunar missions.

The module has been successfully brought into orbit around Earth, and the SHAPE payload on the module will now be used for Earth observation.

The decision to repurpose the Chandrayaan orbiter showcases ISRO’s strategic approach to maximize the utility of space assets and gather valuable data for various missions.

“25 Leaders of National Revolutionary Front Manipur Join UNLF in Peace Process; Government Expects Positive Impact on Manipur Peace Efforts”

The Union Home Ministry has announced that 25 leaders of the National Revolutionary Front Manipur (NRFM), a Meitei underground group, have joined the United National Liberation Front (UNLF) in the peace process.

This development is seen as a positive step towards restoring peace and normalcy in Manipur. It follows the signing of a peace agreement between the NRFM, the Government of Manipur, and the Government of India last month.

The Home Ministry believes that this move will encourage other Meitei underground outfits to join the peace process and address their demands through democratic means.

The joining of NRFM leaders with UNLF is expected to contribute to the government’s vision of achieving an “Insurgency-free and prosperous North East.”

NRFM, formerly known as the United Revolutionary Front, was formed in 2011 by members of three factions of the KCP (Kangleipak Communist Party), a Meitei underground outfit. The group’s leaders were involved in violence and extortion in various parts of the Manipur Valley.

“India achieve target of blending 12 per cent ethanol with petrol, said Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri”

India has achieved the target of blending 12 per cent ethanol with petrol during the recently concluded ethanol supply year in October 2023.

The target of 10 per cent blending was achieved five months before the deadline of November 2022.

Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri shared this information during the Question Hour in Rajya Sabha.

The minister mentioned that the total oil and natural gas exploration area in the country has been increased to 5 lakh square kilometers.

The government is actively working to reduce petroleum imports, considering that India is currently importing 85 per cent of oil and 50.5 per cent of natural gas.

The 5th Nagaland Honey Bee Day was celebrated at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama, under the theme ‘Bee & Honey Trials.’

Deputy Chief Minister T R Zeliang highlighted Nagaland’s unique tradition of beekeeping, emphasizing its potential to be the epicenter of apicultural activities due to favorable climatic conditions, rich vegetation, and ideal topography.

The Nagaland Beekeeping and Honey Mission (NBHM) has played a crucial role in transforming traditional beekeeping into a sustainable source of income for many in the state, contributing to economic sustainability.

The Deputy Chief Minister praised the unique quality of Nagaland’s honey, attributing its taste to the rich source of nutrition for honeybees from the state’s varied flora.

Emphasis was placed on the importance of beekeeping, not only for honey production but also for beewax production and the critical role played by bees in pollination, enhancing crop productivity.

The launch of ‘Bee Tourism’ during the Hornbill Festival and the opening of the ‘Honey Hub’ at Kisama were mentioned as initiatives to encourage and educate local and non-local tourists about traditional beekeeping practices.

Nagaland currently has over one lakh beekeepers, and NBHM has added about 25,000 more with proper guidance for beekeeping, covering about 500 villages.

The 52nd anniversary of ‘Maitri Diwas,’ marking the recognition granted to Bangladesh by India in 1971, was celebrated in Dhaka on December 6th.

The celebration was inaugurated by the High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh, Pranay Verma, and Mrs. Manu Verma.

The decision to observe December 6 as ‘Maitri Diwas’ was taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina during PM Modi’s state visit to Bangladesh in March 2021.

“Government Seeks Lok Sabha Approval for Rs 58,378 Crore Additional Spending in Current Fiscal; First Batch of Supplementary Demands for Grants Presented.”

The government presented the first batch of Supplementary Demands for Grants for the fiscal year 2023-24 in Lok Sabha on December 6, 2023.

Minister of State for Finance, Pankaj Chaudhary, tabled the demands seeking approval for net additional spending of Rs 58,378 crore in the current fiscal.

The government seeks authorization for gross additional expenditure exceeding Rs 1,29,000 crore.

The additional spending includes approximately Rs 13,351 crore allocated towards fertiliser subsidy.

“India Emerges as Major Contributor to Organic and Natural Products Market Globally.”

India has become a significant contributor to the global organic and natural products market, with its share reaching 17,853 crore rupees in the last three years.

The demand for organic products worldwide has seen substantial growth, increasing from 21 billion US dollars in 2001 to 135.50 billion US dollars in 2021, according to the World of Organic Agriculture Statistics and Emerging Trends 2023 report.

Major organic products exported from India in the last three years include cereals, millet, processed food, tea, spices, condiments, dry fruits, sugar, medicinal plant products, pulses, coffee, and oilseeds.

The diverse agro-climatic conditions in India offer significant potential for producing various organic products, and the country is making efforts to tap into the growing domestic and export markets.

The government has undertaken several initiatives to boost the export of organic products from India.

“S&P Global Ratings Predicts India to Become World’s Third-Largest Economy by 2030”

S&P Global Ratings anticipates that India will emerge as the world’s third-largest economy by the year 2030.

The rating agency emphasizes that India’s primary challenge lies in unlocking the vast opportunities available and establishing itself as a major global manufacturing hub.

India is projected to be the fastest-growing major economy over the next three years, with an expected GDP growth of 7% by 2026, surpassing the 6.4% expansion projected for the current fiscal year.

In the fiscal year 2022-23, India recorded a GDP growth of 7.2%, and robust growth continued with 7.8% and 7.6% in the June and September quarters, respectively.


First T20 International Between India and England Women Underway in Mumbai

The first T20 International (T20I) match between India women and England women is currently underway in Mumbai.

England set a target of 198 runs for India after batting first and making 197 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

Natalie Sciver (77 runs) and Danielle Wyatt (75 runs) were the main contributors for England.

India, in reply, were 41 for 1 in 5.1 overs at the last update.

Renuka Singh took 3 wickets for India, while Shreyanka Patil and Saika Ishaque claimed 2 and 1 wickets, respectively.

“Men’s Volleyball Club World Championship Set to Begin in Bengaluru”

The FIVB (Fédération Internationale de Volleyball) Men’s Volleyball Club World Championship 2023 will kick off at the Koramangala Indoor Stadium in Bengaluru.

This marks the first time the prestigious tournament is being held in India.

Six teams will compete over five days for the championship.

Ahmedabad Defenders, champions of Prime Volleyball League Season 2, will be the first Indian team to participate.

Muthusamy Appavu will lead the Defenders as the setter.

The top two teams from the group stages will advance to the semi-finals on December 9, with the final scheduled for December 10.

India secured a triumphant start in the FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup 2023 by defeating South Korea 4-2 in their opening match in Pool-C at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Araijeet Singh Hundal achieved a hat-trick, and Amandeep contributed another goal to the score.

The two-time junior world champion, India, is set to face Spain on December 7 and Canada on December 9 in the upcoming matches.

In the Women’s category, India emerged victorious against New Zealand with a score of 3-2 in a shoot-out after leveling the score at 3-3 during full time.

“India Secures Impressive Medal Haul at IBA Junior World Boxing Championship”

On the concluding day of the IBA Junior World Boxing Championship 2023 in Yerevan, Armenia, India showcased a commendable performance, winning three gold, five silver, and one bronze medal.

Gold medals were clinched by Akansha (70 kg category), Pari (48 kg category), and Nisha (52 kg category).

Silver medals were won by Vini (52 kg category), Srishti Sathe (63 kg category), Jatin (54 kg category), Hardik Panwar (80 kg category), Ameesha Kereta (54 kg category), and Prachi Tokas (80 kg category).

The Indian contingent demonstrated outstanding prowess in various weight categories, contributing to the country’s impressive medal haul.

He announced substantial pledges on behalf of India to support the United Nations peacekeeping operations, reaffirming India’s status as a leading troop-contributing country to UN peacekeeping efforts.

India, over the last seven decades, has contributed more than 2,75,000 troops in 53 different missions, according to the Ministry of Defence.

Alongside the UN Peacekeeping ministerial meeting, Minister Ajay Bhatt engaged in bilateral meetings with several friendly foreign countries to discuss matters of mutual interest and enhance defense cooperation.

“Indian Army Hosts ‘Inno Yodha 2023’ to Encourage Innovation and Modernization.”

The Indian Army organized ‘Inno Yodha 2023,’ an Idea and Innovation Competition and Seminar in New Delhi, emphasizing the importance of embracing modernization and technological advancement through indigenization.

Chief of the Army Staff, General Manoj Pande, addressed the gathering, appreciating the creativity and ingenuity of innovators within the Indian Army.

Garba, a traditional dance form of Gujarat, has been included in the Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.

The decision was made during the Botswana convention of UNESCO on December 6, 2023.

Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy highlighted that this recognition is a result of the Indian government’s efforts, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to showcase the country’s rich culture, traditions, and heritage to the global audience.

Garba of Gujarat becomes the 15th Intangible Cultural Heritage element from India to be included in UNESCO’s list.

Special cultural programs and traditional Garba celebrations were organized in Gujarat to mark the occasion, with live streaming available in various districts of the state.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed pride in the global acknowledgment of Garba, emphasizing its significance as a celebration of life, unity, and India’s cultural richness. He urged everyone to preserve and promote the country’s heritage for future generations.

He contested the general elections in 2014 as an LDF-supported independent candidate from the Ernakulam Lok Sabha constituency but did not succeed.

Dr. Fernandez played a significant role in public service and held leadership positions in several public sector companies.

His demise is mourned as a loss to the administrative and political circles, and he is remembered for his contributions during his career.
