    The Gajapati district administration in Odisha has closed all schools due to heavy downpour.

    While there is no more cyclone threat for Odisha, remnants of Michaung are expected to bring widespread rains in several districts, including Ganjam, Gajapati, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, and Nabarangpur.

    The India Meteorological Department predicts continued heavy rainfall in specific districts till the next morning.

    “Government Introduces Face Recognition & Aadhaar-based eKYC for Farmers to Ensure Transparency in PM-Kisan Scheme.”

    The government has implemented Face Recognition and Aadhaar identification-based eKYC for farmers to enhance transparency in the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme.

    In response to questions in the Lok Sabha, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister of State, Shobha Karandlaje, highlighted the existence of fake entries aiming to receive benefits under the PM-Kisan scheme.

    The newly introduced eKYC aims to ensure good governance and transparency in direct benefit transfers to farmers, particularly after the release of the 13th PM-Kisan fund.

    Minister Karandlaje emphasized the simplicity of the eKYC process, noting that it can be easily completed through a mobile app.

    The Government of India has disbursed over 2.60 lakh crore rupees to more than 11 crore farmers under the PM-KISAN scheme.

    Under the PM-KISAN scheme, an annual amount of six thousand rupees is transferred in three equal installments of two thousand rupees directly into the bank accounts of eligible farmers.

    Launched in February 2019, the PM-KISAN Scheme aims to provide financial assistance to all cultivable landholding farmer families across the country.


    “PM Kisan” refers to the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme, which is a government initiative in India aimed at providing financial support to small and marginal farmers. The scheme was launched by the Government of India in December 2018. Under the PM-Kisan scheme, eligible farmers receive direct income support of Rs 6,000 per year in three equal installments of Rs 2,000 each. This support is provided to help farmers meet their financial needs for various agricultural activities, including the purchase of seeds, fertilizers, and other inputs.

    Out of 6,44,131 villages in India, approximately 6,16,300 villages have mobile connectivity, according to Communications and Electronics Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.

    The government has undertaken various initiatives to improve internet connectivity across the country.

    India has witnessed the fastest rollout of 5G services globally, with 3.99 lakh Base Trans-receivers Station (BTS) deployed across approximately 738 districts.

    The number of BTS has increased from 6.49 lakhs in March 2014 to 24.42 lakhs in March of the current year.

    Internet users in India have increased from 25.15 crore in March 2014 to 88.22 crore in March 2023.

    The cost of data has significantly reduced, from Rs 269 per GB in March 2014 to Rs 9.94 per GB in March of the current year.

    President Droupadi Murmu stated that the friendship between India and Kenya has evolved into a robust bilateral relationship with significant economic collaboration in various sectors like trade, education, and technology.

    President Murmu welcomed President of Kenya, Dr. William Samoei Ruto, at Rashtrapati Bhavan, emphasizing the historical connection between the two nations through the waters of the Indian Ocean.

    The Indian-origin community in Kenya, numbering around 80,000, was highlighted as well-integrated socially and economically, showcasing the inclusive character of Kenyan society.

    India was acknowledged as one of Kenya’s largest trading partners and a significant source of investment, with many Indian companies making Kenya their base for operations in East Africa.

    The Indian government has reported that the country has installed over 186 GW of energy capacity from non-fossil fuel-based energy resources as of October this year.

    Additionally, 114 GW of capacity is currently under implementation, and more than 55 GW of capacity is under the tendering process.

    The Chandrayaan orbiter, with over 100 kgs of fuel, had spent over one month operating in lunar orbit. ISRO decided to utilize the remaining fuel to gather additional information for future lunar missions.

    The module has been successfully brought into orbit around Earth, and the SHAPE payload on the module will now be used for Earth observation.

    “25 Leaders of National Revolutionary Front Manipur Join UNLF in Peace Process; Government Expects Positive Impact on Manipur Peace Efforts”

    The Union Home Ministry has announced that 25 leaders of the National Revolutionary Front Manipur (NRFM), a Meitei underground group, have joined the United National Liberation Front (UNLF) in the peace process.

    Major organic products exported from India in the last three years include cereals, millet, processed food, tea, spices, condiments, dry fruits, sugar, medicinal plant products, pulses, coffee, and oilseeds.

    The diverse agro-climatic conditions in India offer significant potential for producing various organic products, and the country is making efforts to tap into the growing domestic and export markets.
