Instead, Brazil aims to use elements of the BRI to create synergies with its own infrastructure projects and attract Chinese investment without full participation in the initiative.

RBI Introduces Amendments to KYC Guidelines: Key Changes and Updates

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has introduced six amendments to the Master Direction – Know Your Customer (KYC) Directions, 2016, effective from November 6, 2024. These changes are aimed at enhancing the customer due diligence (CDD) process for Regulated Entities (REs) and aligning with recent legal developments.

Reasons for Amendments:

  1. Alignment with Amendments to the Prevention of Money Laundering (Maintenance of Records) Rules, 2005.
  2. Implementation of Section 51A of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), 1967.
  3. Revision of existing KYC instructions.

Key Amendments:

  1. Customer Acceptance Policy (Paragraph 10f):
  1. CDD must be applied at the Unique Customer Identification Code (UCIC) level.
  2. Existing KYC-compliant customers can open new accounts or access services without undergoing a new CDD process.
  3. High-Risk Accounts Monitoring (Paragraph 37):
  4. The definition of high-risk accounts is clarified, emphasizing intensified monitoring for these accounts.
  5. KYC Updation (Paragraph 38):
  6. The term “periodic updation” replaces “updation” for clearer timing and process on KYC updates.
  7. KYC Records and CKYCR (Paragraph 56h & 56j):
  8. REs must update KYC data of individual and legal entities with the Central KYC Records Registry (CKYCR) within seven days of receiving new information.
  9. Changes in UAPA Procedures:
  10. The designation of the Central Nodal Officer under UAPA, 1967 is updated from ‘Additional Secretary’ to ‘Joint Secretary’.
  11. Terminology Update:
  12. References to “section” in the Master Direction are replaced with “paragraph” for consistency in legal language.

  1. Merger of Diligent Power Private Limited (DPPL) into its wholly-owned subsidiary DB Power Limited (DBPL) and the reorganization of Decore Thermal Power Private Limited (DTPPL), following the buyback of certain securities.
  2. CCI also approved the acquisition of additional stake in Thoughtworks Holding, Inc. by Apax Partners LLP (based in the United Kingdom) and Temasek Holdings (Private) Limited (based in Singapore).

On 30th October 2024, China successfully launched its Shenzhou-19 spaceship carrying three astronautstwo men and one woman—on a six-month mission to its Tiangong Space Station (TSS) in low Earth orbit. The spacecraft was launched aboard a Long March-2F carrier rocket from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre in northwest China.

Key Highlights:

  • This marks the 33rd flight mission of China’s manned space program and the 4th crewed mission related to the application and development of the Tiangong Space Station.
  • Crew Members:
    • Cai Xuzhe (Mission Commander), who previously flew in the Shenzhou-14 mission in 2022.
    • Song Lingdong, an air force pilot, and Wang Haoze, China’s only female spaceflight engineer with China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation.
    • Wang Haoze becomes the 3rd Chinese woman to participate in a crewed spaceflight mission.
  • Both Song and Wang are flying in space for the first time and were born in the 1990s.

Key Functions of the Mission:

  1. The spaceship will perform a fast, automated rendezvous and docking with the Tianhe core module of the Tiangong Space Station within 6.5 hours.
  2. The mission aims to form a combination of 3 modules and 3 spacecraft.
  3. The crew will conduct 86 space experiments in fields like space life science, microgravity physics, and space material science, among others.

  • Meluri covers 31 villages across 1011 square kilometers (km²) and includes four administrative headquarters, such as the industrial town of Wazeho and the International Trade Centre (ITC) in Avangkhu, Nagaland.
  • The district is primarily inhabited by the Pochury Naga tribe and is located near the international border with Myanmar.
  • Meluri is the fifth district established in Nagaland in the last three years as part of the state’s efforts to improve administrative efficiency.
    • In 2021, Tseminyu district was created by splitting Kohima, and Chümoukedima and Niuland districts were formed from Dimapur.
    • In 2022, Shamator district was formed from the eastern Tuensang district.
