Over one lakh farmers voluntarily surrenders PM-Kisan benefits

- According to the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Family Welfare, 116,000 farmers have voluntarily surrendered their benefits under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme during June 2023 to May 2024 period across the country.
- The PM-KISAN scheme was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 24th February 2019 at Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. It is a 100% centrally sponsored scheme under which farmers get Rs 6000 per year.
Bihar leads the state in surrendering PM -Kisan scheme
Of the 116.000 farmers who have voluntarily given up the scheme maximum are from Bihar followed by Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.
Following are the top states where farmers have surrendered their PM-Kisan benefit
- Bihar -29176 farmer’s families,
- Uttar Pradesh -26,593 farmer’s families,
- Rajasthan -10,343 farmer’s families,
- Maharashtra-7,825 farmer’s families,
- Jharkhand- 6,215 farmer’s families.
Reason for surrendering of the PM Kisan
- Last year, the government enabled an option in the PM-Kisan app and the website to allow registered farmers to voluntarily deregister from the scheme.
- According to the ministry, the possible reason for the farmers giving up the PM-Kisan benefits could be,
- absentee landlords;
- land being transferred to tax-paying descendants through succession and
- change in the status of landowners.
Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Yojana (PM-KISAN): To provide income support to the farmers of the country the government of India launched a 100 per cent centrally sponsored scheme Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) yojana. It was launched by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh on 24 February 2019.
What is the benefit of the scheme?
- Under this scheme, eligible farmers receive Rs 6000 per year in their bank account from the Government of India in three installments, every 4th month of the year.
- All installments falling due on or after 1st December 2019 are being paid only on the basis of the Aadhaar authenticated bank data of beneficiaries.
Who is eligible for this scheme?
- All farmer families in the country.
- Here, family means husband, wife and their minor children.
Zupee Collaborates with Gurugram Cyber Police for Cyber Security Awareness

- In a bid to bolster cyber security awareness, Zupee, India’s largest skill-based Ludo platform, has partnered with Gurugram Cyber Police for the 11th edition of the Cyber Security Summer Internship Program, titled ‘Cyber Warriors’.
- The month-long internship aims to train selected candidates in cyber security under the guidance of experts, fostering responsible digital citizenship and tackling real-world cyber threats.

SBI becomes 7th company to cross Rs 8 lakh crore market capitalisation

- India’s largest commercial bank, State Bank of India (SBI), has become the seventh listed company in India to reach Rs eight lakh crore in market capitalisation. The shares of the State Bank of India hit a new high of Rs 899.55 on the BSE on 3 June 2024.
- SBI joins the ranks of Reliance Industries, Tata Consultancy Services, HDFC Bank, Bharti Airtel, Infosys, and ICICI Bank in achieving this milestone.
- The government-owned SBI is India’s largest and most profitable bank. Among Indian banks, SBI has the largest number of branches and ATMs. It also has the highest number of foreign branches and offices amongst the Indian banks.
Types of market capitalisations in India
- Companies which are listed on a recognised stock exchange are classified into Large Cap, Mid Cap and Small Cap on the basis of market capitalisation, companies are classified into Large Cap, Mid-Cap and Small Cap.

ISRO Develops PraVaHa CFD Software for Aerospace Vehicle Analysis

- The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has developed the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software named Parallel RANS Solver for Aerospace Vehicle Aero- thermo-dynamic Analysis (PraVaHa).

- It can simulate external and internal flows on launch vehicles, winged and non-winged re- entry vehicles.

- PraVaHa code is operational to simulate airflow for Perfect Gas & Real Gas conditions and the validations of the code are underway for simulating the effect of chemical reactions that occur during air dissociation upon ‘earth re-entry’ and ‘combustion’ as in scramjet vehicles.
