  • The National Crime Record Bureau (NCRB) has introduced a mobile app called “NCRB Sankalan of Criminal Laws,” designed to be a comprehensive guide providing complete information about the new criminal laws, which will come into effect on July 1st.

About the App: The “NCRB Sankalan of Criminal Laws” app compiles the new criminal laws, including Bharatiya Nayaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam. It features an index linking all chapters and sections of these new laws. This app is intended for use by the general public, court officers, advocates, law students, and police officers to enhance their understanding of the new criminal laws. It will be available for download on Google Play Store, Apple Store, and in a desktop version from the official websites of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and NCRB.

Purpose of the App

The Sankalan app is designed to facilitate navigation through the new criminal laws, acting as a bridge between the old and new laws. It serves as a comprehensive guide for all stakeholders. The app functions in offline mode as well, ensuring accessibility in remote areas so that stakeholders can access the information they need around the clock.

  • India’s forex reserves jumped 4.307 billion US Dollars to a new all-time high of 655.817 billion Dollars for the week ended June 7. The kitty had jumped 4.837 billion dollars to 651.51 billion dollars in the previous reporting week.
  • The previous high for the kitty was 648.87 billion dollars on May 10. In the past few weeks, the reserves have witnessed handsome jumps.
  • For the week ended June 7, foreign currency assets, a major component of the reserves, increased by 3.773 billion dollars to 576.337 billion dollars.

  • Harsh Pati Singhania, Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of JK Paper Ltd and Director of JK Organisation, has been elected as the First Vice-Chair of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) headquartered in Paris, France.
    • Philippe Varin (France), a global industry leader, has been elected as Chair of the ICC. Philippe Varin succeeded Maria Fernanda Garza, who becomes the Honorary Chair of ICC.

  • On June  2024, The Indian Navy (IN) launched the Missile Cum Ammunition (MCA) Barge, Landing Ship Ammunition(LSAM 13)(Yard 81), the fifth Barge of 08 x MCA Barge project, built by Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Shipyard, M/S SECON Engineering Projects Private Limited (SEPPL),Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh (AP).
    • The barge was launched at M/s Vinayaga Marine Petro Limited, Mira Bhayandar, Maharashtra (the launch site of SEPPL).
    • The launching ceremony was presided over by Commodore (Cmde) Manish Vig, General Manager- Quality Assurance (QA), Naval Dockyard, Mumbai (ND(Mbi)).

Euro Cup 2024 To Kick-Start On June 15

  • The 2024 season of the European Football Championship, also known as Euro Cup 2024, will kick-start on June 15 (according to Indian Standard Time) when the hosts Germany take on Scotland at 1230 hrs (IST).
  • A total of 24 teams will be vying for glory, starting June 15. Italy are the defending champions after they defeat England in the final in the previous edition of Euro Cup, which was held in 2021, a delay in year due to Covid-19 pandemic.
  • 24 teams are divided in six groups with each having six teams. The hosts are in Group A while the defending champions Italy are in Group B, which is also regarded as group of death. Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal are place in Group F, along with Turkey, Georgia and Czechia, formerly known as Czech Republic.
